Today I am sharing photography location tips for teen photography sessions and its all about variety! In addition, I am going to introduce you to the first beautiful model in our High School Bound Sessions, Julia.

When considering a photo location you want to think about what type of setting reflects your personal style.  When choosing the perfect place for your session, there are several things to consider about what it may have to offer. To give you some ideas, I’ve broken down each of the location types to help you narrow down your selection.  I usually ask clients if they prefer an urban, nature, parks, rustic or collective.  Here is a brief description of each type.

Urban – Brick buildings, alleys, colorful graffiti, a parking garage and busy city sidewalks. Absolutely perfect for the Senior who live for hustle and bustle that the city has to offer. The raw elements available are exciting and the vivid color will make your images come alive.

Nature – Tallgrass, wide open spaces, trees and a Texas sunset. This versatile backdrop compliments most styles, so whether you love to rock denim and boots or skirts and wedges, this location will work great for you! Your images can range from classic and timeless to beautifully romantic and ethereal.

Parks – City parks, golf courses, and walking trails are filled with options. These locations offer a lot of greenery, concrete paths, ponds, and park benches. This is the perfect choice if you want a more manicured look for your session.

Collective – New and old buildings, trees, alleys, open space and everything in-between. In a nutshell, this is a location jackpot that will provide endless options. University campus and small towns are the perfect places that offer exactly this. If you have an eclectic style, this type of location works great!

Rustic – Weathered, shabby buildings, chipped paint and charming industrial appeal. You might feel like you’ve stepped back in time when working in a rustic location. The organic texture that time causes to these locations will add a whole new level of visual interest to your pictures. Rustic locations offer a unique and dynamic look that photographs beautifully.

Once we narrow down the type of location we then can look at specific locations!
