Branding photography is an intimate business. As a branding photographer, my client and I spend quite a bit of time together before, during, and after the session. I believe strongly in a good fit with both the client and the photographer and it is the key to a successful branding session.
Storyboarding a personal branding session.
Before a branding photography session, we meet, I learn about them, their personality, their hopes or dreams, and their family, everything that makes them unique as a person, as a business owner, and makes their business different from others in their industry. My goal is to help them take all those elements and put them into story telling images that really portray the essence of what it is like to work with them for their clients.
The branding photography session experience.
During the branding photography session, my number one goal is to help my clients get comfortable, relaxed, and really forget that we have a camera between us. We play music, laugh, joke around, and are not rushed. I do everything I can to really make sure that the client can achieve those images in the most natural and authentic way possible. This is not an easy job, and requires really connecting with clients on a one to one level.

What to look for in a personal or professional brand photographer.
If I could leave you with one piece of advice today, my number one piece of advice would be that you really find a photographer that you connect with when it comes to a branding session. I strongly believe in a good fit between a photographer and a client, and there’s no substitution for that relationship. You need someone that you feel comfortable with, connect with on a personal level, and can really help them learn what you need to portray in those images. Know them, like them and trust them and that they can help you with your vision!
