Moms you need to get in front of the camera too!
Today we are going to get real and have a talk about moms getting in front of the camera. I hear so many of you moms say “I’m not photogenic” or “I have to lose weight before I get in front of the camera” so “Let’s just take photos of the kids”.
I GET IT! I feel the same way. However, my friend Lisa’s story might change your mind. Her mom never wanted to be in front of the camera. She was always the one behind the camera documenting the family history. (Like so many of us.). Unfortunately, her mom died from cancer when Lisa was just a teen leaving her with just a handful of photos of her mom. To this day that is a huge source of sadness for her. She will never have more than just those few images which include only a single image of her along with her mom. Only one.
So Mamas! I know we all have reasons, but I am asking you to consider doing it for your children. They see you as young, strong and beautiful and will cherish photos of their moms as they go through the years. They will want both iPhone shots and quality professional images of their family to see how beautiful their childhood + teen years played out.
Remember, our children will not remember us as the young mothers of their childhood in our 30’s and 40’s. As humans, we tend to remember people as they currently are. Give them the gift of remembering you (and them) during this season of life. Capture all of the essences that make your family unique. These are for your family. That’s it. I promise you don’t have to plaster them all over social media if you don’t want to.
It’s a big step for some of us. However, I know you sticking with me this far that you love your family and treasure this time together. Imagine a beautiful photo album with images of you snuggling your babies for children to remember long after we are gone! That’s what is important. You’ve got this!
