January 2017 marks the third year of my 365 Project which is a personal project to capture our everyday. When I reflect about family photography and why I initially picked up my camera 9 years ago, it always comes back to slowing down and noticing all of the little things. I am not a detailed person by nature and spent the first 40 years of my life running through my days failing to stop and see the little moments + small beauty in the everyday. Being a mom of twins compounded this problem because I was always outmanned and had to live mentally in the future to be one step ahead of my boys. My goal with photography is to slow down and store up all of these beautiful moments in my heart + on my camera. I aim to be “Present over Perfect” as my favorite author Shauna Niequest had termed it. My 365 project is about recognizing the presence of God in my family, friendships, children and nature. I love documenting daily life and it gives me great insight into my personal inspirations as well. I can see what type of beauty completely stops me in my tracks. Bold bright colors + warm evening light with long shadows + reflections are just a few from this past month. Thanks for stopping by and taking a look at my favorite little moments from January 2017!
